Chain Pickerel Esox niger

Coloration Golden to greenish brown. Background is dark with light markings. Chainlike pattern very evident in the scales. Slim pointy snout. Brackish freshwater fish, avoiding the territory of the larger members of the pike family. Caught on small minnows, crayfish lures, flies, etc. Locally, found out near the Batsto area, Stafford Forge and some creeks/ponds. Approximate growth rate: 14"=3yrs, 20"=6yrs, 36"=10 yr.
