Atlantic Croaker Micropogon
undulatus
Coloration silvery gray, lighter towards belly (golden during
spawning). Dorsal fins connected, second dorsal stops just before tail.
Vertical stripes with light spots across the top of the sides. Slightly
under 2 lbs maximum weight except around the area of the Chesapeake Bay. Often jokingly described as looking like a "weakfish that ran into a wall" They do make a croaking sound. Edible, fillets are similar in consistancy and flavor to weakfish fillets.
