Len Belcaro and Adam LaRosa Highlight First Event of 2003!

We kick off the new year with our biggest event ever! Our next meeting, scheduled for January 25 from 12:30-4:00 p.m., will feature two of the biggest names in offshore fishing in the New Jersey/Mid-Atlantic region. This event will feature the following speakers: Len Belcaro
President/Publisher, The Big Game Fishing Journal
President, Offshore Satellite Services
Len is one of the leading experts on fishing the offshore waters using temperature breaks and eddies to maximize opportunities. After covering the basics on the ins and outs of using temperature charts to improve your catch, Len will review the 2002 offshore fishing season, a year where we had numerous early season filaments of warm water that provided good action, yet a mid-summer season that never really developed north of the Wilmington Canyon. Len refers to 2002 as "One Tough Season." Learn what happened up and down the Canyons off New Jersey and the Mid-Atlantic Bight, and where the best opportunities were – and why. When he's not publishing another great magazine or updating his temperature charts, you will find Len aboard his 32' Blackfin, Midnight Express plying the offshore waters.
Adam LaRosa
Captain and Cockpit Crew
Charter Boat Canyon Runner
Adam is one of the most popular and articulate writers contributing their expertise to The Big Game Fishing Journal. He has written on topics ranging from bait preparation to Penn International maintenance, but his first love is to work the cockpit on as many offshore runs as his work schedule allows during the canyon season. When he's offshore, Adam serves both as a captain and cockpit crew aboard the 48' Viking charter boat, Canyon Runner. The Canyon Runner, which is regularly run by another well-known canyon expert, Capt. Phil Dulanie, is one of the best-known and most productive charter boats fishing out of Manasquan Inlet. Adam will present the techniques and tricks employed by the Canyon Runner to consistently put fish in the box regardless of how tough the conditions are offshore.
This event promises to be an incredible opportunity to learn first-hand from two of the most knowledgeable fishermen in our area. Event Logistics

Pennsylvania Turnpike to Exit 27
Exit right to 611 North

At Rt. 611, immediately get to left lane.
You will see the Courtyard Hotel directly across the divided highway
At first light, make a left turn, then cut through the gas station back to Rt. 611 South.
Turn right into the hotel. Other Upcoming Events

Saturday, March 1
The second event in our winter education series will be a presentation by a well-known fishing and boating writer, John Raguso. The author of The Fisherman magazine's series on shipwrecks of the Atlantic, John will present an in-depth wreck fishing seminar covering fishing shallow wrecks, deep wrecks, trolling, drifting, chumming, and, of course, bottom fishing. He'll present a slide show including underwater shots, and will discuss the ins and outs of finding and fishing wrecks. Later in March...
Next on our agenda, as a follow-up to our popular September offshore rigging presentation, we'll have an afternoon of hands-on rigging. We'll be offering a number of lure designs that you'll be able to buy and rig, as well as sharing designs for bait rigs useful for chunking and trolling. This will also be an excellent opportunity to bring existing lures that need re-rigging. Stay tuned for more information regarding what supplies will be needed for this event. For more information on future events, see our Calendar page.
