LYME DISEASE
~ LLMD, Definition of ~
To find good medical care for Lyme disease, it is crucial to locate a doctor who is educated about Lyme disease, and experienced in treating this complex illness. Such physicians are referred to in the Lyme disease community as Lyme-literate MD's (LLMD)

In simple terms, this means they keep up to date on current treatments and protocols. They test thoroughly for lyme disease and it's co-infections. They treat your over all health..not just the symptoms!
The Lyme Disease Network is a great way to locate support groups and obtain information about doctors! The best way to go about this is by posting under the "Seeking A Doctor" Section. You can mention what state you are in, what you are looking for in a doctor, and request a forum private message for more information. This is done privately to protect the doctors, as in many states, they are being harassed for even trying to treat Lyme disease properly.

This is also where we lymies help support each other with info on what has helped us, ask questions about symptoms or treatments, or just ask for a kind ear to listen to our woes. Feel free to lurk until you feel comfortable enough to post. All are welcome! ~MizMo
