10/21/02 Tony, the mink.
| We have a new visitor. We don't know if we will see him again, but this furry fellow helped himself to some eels while he was here. |
I know there is food here somewhere
Bah, this is empty
Where are they, I can smell 'em!
Found them!

3/25/02 Bullet is back.

| We were a little worried about her, since she's usually a couple of weeks earlier. At the end of last season, it had looked like a cat tried to nibble on her, so we were concerned about her chances over the winter. She is hale and hearty, so no worries now. Except for our minnow status...she brought her appetite! |

3/30/02 Just a funny story. A few days ago Scotty was telling me about a dream he had. In it he went out to the dock to fetch some minnows up. There were Black crowned night herons perched on each of the two pilings, and one on the minnow boxes sitting on the floating dock. Then he looks up at the trees....and every foot or so all through the tree, are night herons. Like....100 of them. That was his dream.
This morning he goes out to the floating dock. There are Black crowned night herons perched on each of the pilings and one on the boxes...can you feel his heart lurch? He looks up at the tree, and whew!, it's empty. Then........he sees a formation of birds out over the treeline flying. Just lazily moving this way and that. After watching them for a minute he calls Russell out to see. It was 4 more Black crowned night herons on their way in to perch! So that makes our visitors this morning from the local BCNH colony a total of 7 adults today....a new record I think!
Should we start quizzing
Scott about his dreams...seems he's predicting the future now. :) ~ MizMo |
