Exerpt: "Ewing expects all the northeast states to be "very cooperative" as they try to conform to a federal mandate to license anglers by Jan. 1, 2009. States from Florida through Virginia have had saltwater licenses for years, and Delaware just instituted one. There are none from New Jersey through Maine, although Connecticut is close to putting one into place with language allowing reciprocal arrangements with Rhode Island and New York. Delaware would like to work out an arrangement with New Jersey.

Exerpt: "The council decided to keep the 14-inch minimum size for anglers but wants to close fishing from May 1 through June 15. In 2007, tog fishermen could fish yearlong, but the bag limit varied. Anglers were allowed four fish per day from Jan. 1-May 31, one fish per day from June 1-Nov. 14, and eight fish per day from Nov. 15-Dec. 31.
The council is only changing the bag limit for the last part of the year, from eight fish per day to six fish, from Nov. 16-Dec. 31. Anglers should note the new late season is different by one day, beginning Nov. 16 instead of Nov. 15." - AWAITING FEDERAL APPROVAL

Please be advised of an error in the Tiger Musky/Muskellunge size limits on page 22 in the 2008 Freshwater Fishing Digest. The size limits for the two categories of waters were inadvertently reversed. The statewide size limit for Tiger Musky and Muskellunge is 36 inches and the size limit for Trophy Musky Waters: Mountain Lake and Echo Lake Reservoir is 40 inches.
