HISTORY: First built in the late 1940's, this reel has seen many improvements over the years construction-wise. The very first version featured a plastic spool and was simply model #200. When this changed into a metal spool the M was added to the model name to avoid confusion. In the mid 80's, when most spools were manufactured out of (or replaced by) the light-weight aluminum, this spool was no exception, and the 200L entered the catalogs.
