REEL INFO: Spinfisher SS Series - The Penn Spinfisher is by far the most recognized spinning reel on the market. Many fishermen prefer the skirted spool style this reel can offer. Not only does the skirt prevent line from becoming entangled or fouled, but it also helps to protect the inner workings of the reel for trouble free performance. The skirt also lessens friction on the line since it completely covers the rotor housing. The 420SS and 430SS Spinfisher models were ideal for a variety of ultralight and light applications: trout, crappie, bluegill and similar species.(Spinfisher SS manual)

The 420SS was replaced by the 4200SS in 1995, while the 430SS was replaced by the newer 4300SS in 1992.
