| The Formula To Estimate Fish Weight: ((Girth x Girth) x Length) / 800 = weight in pounds (girth and length are inches) Measure fish from the shortest length.  |
| How to measure fish: Mouth closed, from tip of mouth to tip of tail. Lay fish ON TOP of ruler or tape measure, on a flat surface. Running the measuring tape over the girth of the fish can add inches and get you in trouble with the game warden. Striped Bass: Pinch tail fin closed to get correct length. Black Sea Bass: DO NOT include the long spine on the tail in your measurement - measure from the curve of the tail fin. |
